What is this all about?
Welcome to the Great Haseley Neighbourhood Plan Community Consultation. This is where you get to have your say about how you think Great Haseley Parish should develop over the next decade and beyond.
The (Draft) Great Haseley Neighbourhood Development Plan is the culmination of a process that began in April 2023. At that stage we were scoping community views for the production of a Neighbourhood Priority Statement (NPS), a concept that was being trailed to enable communities to produce a scaled down version of a Neighbourhood Plan - easier and less time consuming to produce, but with less legal weight behind it. When the NPS initiative was abandoned by central government, Great Haseley Parish Council (GHPC) decided to build on the work already completed for NPS development and uplift it to produce a full Neighbourhood Plan, using the identified Neighbourhood Priorities as a basis for the Vision, Objectives and policy development. This is now your chance to say what you think about the Policies that have been developed from these early consultations, and produce a Neighbourhood Plan which can give real weight to our community’s views about our local environment.
What is a Neighbourhood Plan?
A Neighbourhood Plan is a legal planning document that can influence many aspects of future development. It can’t overrule all other plans but it can tell planners what is important to us and provide legal rules about development. The Plan is being written by the Great Haseley Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group on behalf of GHPC. This group only exists to gather evidence from you and then turn this into a planning document which must then be approved by you at a referendum – it must represent your views and not just those of the GHPC or the Steering Group.
What do I have to do?
You don’t have to do anything if you don’t mind what happens to the village and the environment but it would really help us if you can complete part or all of the consultation survey. Should you wish to contribute your views, a copy of the Draft Neighbourhood Plan can be viewed by following the link at the bottom of this page. You will also see a link to the online survey, which is the simplest way to complete the consultation. The Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group will also be holding a Community Consultation event at Great Haseley Village Hall from 2pm-6pm on Saturday 10th October 2026, during which the policies will be displayed, representatives from the Steering Group will be available for questions, and paper copies of the consultation survey will be available.
How do I complete this survey?
The simplest way is to complete the survey online. You will be asked for your email address, this is not because we want to send you junk mail, its just to make sure we don’t get multiple surveys from random people. We may use your email to inform you of other events related to the Great Haseley Neighbourhood Plan. If you don’t want us to do this just tick the ‘Please don’t contact me’ box on the survey.
